At least air quotes are understandable.
Some of the other hand gestures are really confusing. For example, the hand that just keeps spinning in circles, or going back and forth or up and down...What does that mean?

If you don't know, just shrug your shoulders, I'll understand.

There is no need for air quotes. What would the gesture be for question marks?

I laugh!
Aren't they for things that are supposed to be sarcastic!?! I only use them when I am being sarcastic
I put my arms up with palms facing upward for a question mark!

My 10 yr old uses them for everything.So do most of her friends so if they do it at 8,9,and 10 how "cool" can it really be

Not only are they "annoying", but they are 250% more "annoying" when prefaced with the phrase, "Quote unquote".
