Because they are dumbasses and have nothing else better to do. If you don't like a particular question, then there are millions of other questions out there to answer. People are so damn stupid.

I agree with the first answer. If a ignorant question is asked (which here in Culture & Groups it happens ALL of the time, including all of the racially motivated questions) then a smart response is used to snap back at the persons rudeness to ask such questions. Other times, people just like to be a.ssholes.
