The Astros will do fine this year.
Their pitching isn't bad at all. I believe that Lidge has got his "mojo" back and will be just fine. They have a solid bullpen.
They picked up Carlos Lee in the offseason, and with that short porch in left field he is going to be "smashing" this year.
Endsberg is on the bubble. If he can have another good year then Berkman, Lee, and Endsberg may be the best 3,4,5 hitters in the N.L. Central.
There Starting pitching will be okay even without Clemens.
They've got Oswalt, the man, who is a work horse and knows what it takes to win. They picked up Jason Jennings, last years Colorodo Rockie's Ace. who holds the best Career ERA for any pitcher for any Rockie pitcher. Also they picked up Woody Williams, who is a pretty solid pitcher, and is poised to have a good year.
But my favorite reason that the Astros will have success is caused by Mark Loretta.
He was an ALL STAR in the far superior American League. Now he's in the national league, which has been proven to be "easier" for hitters and pitchers that move between the leagues.
They are just going to have to find a way to get him some playing time, and a downfall for them may be playing Biggio to much. Whenever Loretta is the better player.

No. The Astros won't make the WS. They'll finish 3rd in the division and not get in the playoffs. Don't worry though. An NL Central team will represent. This is the Cubs year.

The thing about the Astro's is they never get off to a very good start, they are always scrambling to compete in Sept.If they could ever get there game together early I believe it would be the rest of the central that would be scrambling to catch up.But I dont see it happening this year. The Cardinals are the Class of that Division and should win it again this year.

They'll be good barring injuries, but they aren't going ot the World Series. They have more power with the addition of Carlos Lee, but you still have to be concerned about Lidge at the end of games. For Brad Lidge, Albert Pujols is the worst thing that ever happened to him. I can see them in the NLCS, but no further

screw andy and roger. not to put much pressure on roy o, but he got whatever we neeeded done last year. I know he's only one pitcher, but he makes a huge difference in pressure situations. Brad Lidge, during training camp talked to the rocket and nolan ryan, and says that he has corrected what he was doing wrong (which was truning his body towards the batter too fast, letting the batter see the pitch for an extra split-second) But yeah... world series again? I HOPE!
go stros!

They're in the NL, so they can not be good and make it to the World Series. Heck, they can be below .500 and make the playoffs. I say they are slightly worse than my Royals and still make the playoffs. The NL is a joke.

You should be happy if they make it as a Wild Card this year. They had their shot in '05 and they blew it.
