It really depends on the circumstances. With my first daughter I ended up being put on bed rest when I was 7 months so therefore I could not work. With a doctors note I was able to receive temporary disability until I had her and then my maternity pay kicked in.
If you are having a normal pregnancy then no.....you are pregnant not disabled!

If you have purchased short term disability insurance from your provider (through work or whatever) and you are put on a medically necessary bed rest, then yes, you can draw from those benefits. Keep in mind, short term disability is just that, short term. It lasts between 6-8 weeks and usually doesn't kick in until you've been absent from work for 14 days. If you'll be out longer, you may require long term disability insurance. Check into your options. B est of luck

If your employer offers short term disability...then you will take it as your maternity leave. Of course, you're not considered 'disabled" because your pregnant, pregnancy just happens to fall under short term disability coverage. I believe you recieve about 60% of your paycheck while on this. If your work offers this, definately take advantage!! You will have to talk with your Human Resources Department.
If you don't have it offered through your employer I don't think you can just apply to receive disability benefits. My work doesn't offer it and I'm out of luck...I'll be going on maternity leave with no pay.
Good luck!

Being pregnant doesn't mean that you are disabled. I think that if you are put on bedrest and can no longer work due to that, you can get some kind of short term disability from your workplace. As far as state or federally funded diability, no you can't.

For just being pregnant - NO! That is not a disability. If you are a high risk pregnancy, your gynecologist would determine whether or not you qualify for disability due to a medical disorder related to your pregnancy. If you are uncomfortable or concerned about your health on the job due to the pregnancy he/she can also recommend restrictions in your job and provide documentation to your employer. For example, putting your feet up every few hours to decrease edema, or restricting you from lifting over a certain number of pounds or working with toxic chemicals.

I don't know about that, but I do know you can get pregnancy medical - for our family of three (including the baby) we had to make less than $2560/mo. The medical coupon also makes you eligable for WIC (food assistance - milk, cheese eggs, juice, cereal checks.) There is also a one-time grant you can ask for from DSHS called a "Diversion Grant." They will not offer it to you, you've got to ask. Most people get around $1500 to help pay bills if you can prove you have no or very little income on your maternity leave or if you are temporarily unable to work. I know you can get disability for being pregnant but I don't know the circumstances. Call DSHS.

Why would you want to be on disability? Are you talking about short term disability from a job.. if so.. yes but only if you are considered a High Risk pregnancy and have to be put on bed rest. I unfortunately had to use mine with my 1st child and with this pregnancy I had to quit my job. It really sucks to feel like you are unable to do anything.
