People use it for different reasons. My fiance when he was younger did use coke. He had a very hard, sad life because of his mother who abandoned him, It is not an excuse but he became addicted to it. It took getting a gun pulled on him to realize his actions. Some people use it experimentally, some use it because they have issues whether it is depression, boredom, pressure to belong. I am sure there are many reasons why someone uses.

How about Sigmund Freud? He LOVED Cocaine. I have yet to read all his biographies but I plan to and I wonder how cocaine helped or hindered his perceptions. (I doubt it helped) And I think Sherlock Holmes (the character) was also addicted in the books about him. Coca Cola also used to have a drop of cocaine at the turn of the century so maybe
I'd rather read about cocaine instead of more on Freud!!

People that tried it said it was just a super burst of energy that made them feel more creative, but if a person is mentally off, it leads to more trouble much like Mania i.e. they might go try to get a loan to buy a McDonald's franchise because they suddenly know exactly where it should go all at once!!

As with any addictive drug, they quickly reach a level where they no longer get the euphoria and strength but need more just to keep from falling apart or having a nervous breakdown, which also happens with cocaine.(That's the Maintaining Part) I've heard it is Hell. It also leads to bankruptcy too.
