Why not? They have the same chance as any other team that makes the playoffs. The team has a lot of talent with goal-scoring power. Fleury has been pretty constant in goal this season and they have made so much progress from last season to now. I love watching them play...especially when they shake up Brodeur so much that he doesn't know whether to cry or to wind his watch!

Hey, the Steelers were the first 6th seed wildcard team to come from the depths of doubt to win the Super Bowl...anything is possible!!!

Let's Go Pens!!!

They look like a team built for the playoffs except for their goaltending which I have to say is horrible. Marc Andre Fleury has a pretty bad GAA that cannot be said to be completely the defense's fault. Now whenever Thibault is in net the Penguins allow much fewer goals. Why? not because the Pittsburgh blue line decides they like Thibault better and will play better its because Thibault has a much better GAA. Thibault however has no experience in the playoffs and as we saw recently even when Crosby gets into min slumps where they doesnt have to many points he still makes a major impact because they won a couple of games for Pittsburgh by scoring shootout goals. The problem is there are no shootouts in the playoffs. I mean the Pens have really good forwards and some really good puck moving offensive defensemen like Gonchar and that will really take them far. They should not be underestimated however because they were not even picked to make the playoffs but look at them now going toe to toe with Ottawa for 4th in the conference and four points behind the Atlantic leading devils. If they play Ottawa in the first round and get "decent" goaltending they will win the first round but beyond that it gets more complicated especially if they play the devils or sabres later on.

Pittsburgh is just too young to really contend for the Stanley Cup. They're not an aggressive team and when it's game 7 and all bets are off, they won't be able to keep up.

Andrew V:

I hint jealousy! Don't hate the NHL leading scorer. You honestly know you wish you had him on your NHL team. If you ever watch a whole pens game (more than 1) you'll notice the battle he goes thru every single game. Maybe not as much the past 6+ games because of the great deadline deals but, that kid has a bulls-eye on his chest. You complain about Gary Roberts and an elbow. Everybody does that. At least it's no cheap shot like Chris Simon or Cam Janssen (who sucks at hockey and has no skill).

I've been a Pens fan my whole life. So, I'm not gonna jinx them! ;)
BUT, anything can happen once you make it to the playoffs. Oilers last year are a perfect example! So, who knows we'll have to wait and see, eh.

***Slick:
You're an idiot when it comes to personal opinions. You don't know anything about hockey, other than watching Sportcenters "2 minute Hockey Night". We just beat the Sabres and your boring Devils back to back. Who cares about shoot outs right now, they'll be extinct in a few weeks. Also, who the heck cares if they weren't picked to make the playoffs. Does that mean they can't win it? Just because your team is always 5,000 people short of a sell out every game and 5,000 of the fans in attendance are the visiting team's fans. They don't even sell out every playoff game. Your city doesn't deserve a good team like the Devils. Your getting a new arena and people are suppose to travel even longer to go see them. HA! Do everyone a favor and go to C.K.Y.!

The Pens choose some stable defensemen before they are valid cup contenders. There offense is in the suitable 5 and there youthful goalie is in basic terms going to mature and alter into between the perfect in the league. In 2 to 3 years with the adition of a stable defensemen and extra progression from youthful protection they at present have, they are going to be between the perfect communities the NHL will ever see. This team is on its thank you to being a dynasty like the Oilers in the mid 80s.

Any team that makes it into the playoffs will be contenders for the cup. However, I do not feel that they will take it all. They are good, no denying that, but the team is lacking the experience it needs to win the cup.

Anyone who gets into the playoffs canget to the finals. The Pens might look weak in goal, but the Canes looked really weak in goal when the slotted Cam Ward in last year. Roloson did not look like a Stanley Cup goalie last year, either. Yet the likes of Brodeur and Kipper got second and first-rounded.

The Pens are not a favorite by any means, and I don't consider them a playoff team. But they are good. They can get hot and they can get a few lucky bounces.

I definitally think they are, and i know people say that Crosby gets taken care of by the officials, but look at how Gretzky was when he played, if he got touched, it was a penalty or someone beat your face in. But anyways, Crosby is an unbelievably good player, and with the team that he has helpin him out, i wouldnt be suprised if they make it deep into the playoffs. I'm definitally hopin that there will be a Buffalo/Pitts game.

now YES with the trade deadline pick ups with Gary Roberts and George Laraque. nobody will think twice before touching Crosby and Malkin and the leadership that Roberts will bring in the room even with the leadership of Mark Recchi. before that pick up i didn't see them making it past the 2 round cause of there top players not having that much experience, but if you really know your hockey just the pick up of Gary Roberts its self has made this team way better then what it was. Roberts is a hard nose player and has a no quite mentality and he will even drop the gloves. A+ on pick ups for the Pens.
