Kenneth D They can tell you anything if you chose to believe it, the point IS YOU have no means to verify your ballot cast from start to finish through the levels of transmitted numeric results!

And that is exactly how they want it!
Why can't they assign a vote number that includes a State reference number.
With those numbers you should be able to go online and verify your vote counted and for the right political party without revealing your name or personal information.
This whole Protect Privacy crap can be avoided but they don't want you to know! They don't want America to be sure it was done right - oops I mean wrong!

Actually, you sign a voting receipt each time you vote. I believe each of those receipts has an identifying marker and since your ballots are handed to you, those markers are registered. Since our voting machines are made outside the USA and the voting machine operating systems are considered proprietary information, there is no reason to believe that Hugo Chavez's companies and others who manufacture our voting machines cannot rig the operating system to change votes or to manipulate the votes.
Government computers have been hacked 95% of the time they've been tried. This is common knowledge in the computer world and from what we've been told, it doesn't take a computer mastermind to accomplish the hack job.
Most of our computer chips are no longer manufactured in the USA and much of our computer support business has been transferred offshore to foreign countries. That means that we have no secrets and that foreign countries and foreign companies actually control what is placed on our chips. They could program a control module that would shut down every vehicle in the world if they wanted and our stupid government wouldn't know how to find it.
Years ago, we guarded our national secrets like the treasures they truly were. Now we have companies like Halliburton operating their businesses in other countries so they can evade US Law and actually can promote subversive activities.
Your vote is no more secret than your credit card tracking and your vehicle tracking. Digital TVs will be implanted with a secret module that will allow anyone who has the key to access your home and watch you. That's why the push to change everything from Analog to digital. We've been collecting the scientific and fact-based articles on these developments for years and if people knew the actual magnitude of the spy capabilities, we'd all be disconnecting from the world and guarding our privacy!

The system has served America well for hundreds of years. All of a sudden, there is a close election where a democrat loses and now you want to throw out the whole thing.
Secret ballots are used so that people are not intimidated about whom they vote. Imagine that you intend to vote for the socialist candidate and you live in a predominately republican district. Would you want everyone to know who you voted for?
What if you are a member of a labor union that supports democratic candidates and you want to vote republcian. Do you want the labor bosses to know who you are?
What if you and your family have always been diehard democrats but you prefer this time to vote for a third party candidate? Would you want everyone to know?
The secret ballot is an important tradition in America. It protects the minority.

There is a long tradition of absolute confidentiality in voting, and it is based on protecting the voter from intimidation or political pressure to influence their vote, or repercussions from those who would disapprove of how you voted.
To claim that voting shouldn't be private because you should have nothing to hide presumes that election fraud stems from the actions of individual voters, as opposed to political partys or power blocks, which is absurd.

Wow! Do you realy want politicians to find out if you voted for them? I can see it now, you didn't vote for a candidate that I helped put in office. It takes 4 days for you to renew your drivers license, I take 5 minutes.
Or, if I don't like the way you voted, maybe you'll be looking for a new job after the elections.
What a dumb idea.

No, keeping things secret means it's your business alone who you voted for.
While I believe that electronic voting machines should give a receipt showing your votes, there should be no means to tie your name to those votes.
The reason for this is to prevent people from being persecuted / detained / tortured / executed for voting "the wrong way."

I don't understand the point. Am I missing something here? By the way, they can and do track your votes in the primaries.

How about this. if someone could find out how you voted, you could have solid evidence leading to them bribing you for your vote. As it is now, they never have a way of knowing who you voted for.
See how there might be some pros to this idea?

Because Privacy in the voting booth is the only way to assure your rights and votes count. If your vote is allowed to be known you could be subject to intimidation. What is so hard about this to understand? I want to know why this ignorant issue keeps popping up? Perhaps we have dumbed down our children through liberal education a but too much.
