I'm going to try to give you a more direct answer than you have recieved so far.

Yes, Launchcast is really free. You can listen to up to 3000 songs per month interspersed with commercials. You can listen at "low" or "medium" bandwidth. You can create a customized station based on an unlimited number of your own ratings of songs. albums, artists, and genres. You can listen to quite a few preprogrammed stations, plus artist "fan" stations. You can skip songs you don't like, I believe up to 5 per hour, and I'm not sure how many per day. You don't have to pay for any of this. Yahoo makes their money off of the advertisements, click-throughs, and items you might buy on the web site.

There is a PAID version of Launchcast (which I highly recommend) that gives you additional benefits, but you are never obligated to buy Launchcast Plus if you do not want to.

Yes, but the quality of sound is not so good. But you can rate songs and skip (only a certain amount of times). Then it will start playing songs only you want to hear.

No, because you have to pay if you want a variety of channels and better quality sound....
