I suppose when the military is able to keep some semblance of peace. Prob not one event though. Maybe if they thwart some major attack or somethgn all by themselves?

We already have victory in Iraq. Saddam has been removed from power and is no longer a threat to us.

Now, the job of stabilizing Iraq after the power vacuum is what you are asking about.

When the Iraqi military can take over for the vast majority of its own security (as if we weren't there) would be a big indicator we can start leaving.

As long as they need our help with the terrorists and border control, we should remain to ensure their stability until they can take over.

(1) Complete end of all killings in Iraq and (2) all Iraqi's embracing all Americans. Neither of which is likely.

But some say, complete and free control and use of Iraqi oil (by Halliburton ???) is the real sign of victory.

As a supporter of President Bush, and even a supporter of the war in Iraq, I must say it is going to be very difficult to have a victory in Iraq.

The main reason why is because, it appears, we as a nation do not have the intestinal fortitude to fight a war as it should be fought, i.e., fight to win and forget political correctness. (Dear Lord, please give us another Harry Truman!!)

Another reason victory may never be obtained is because of the different culture of the Iraqis, i.e., they have been intentionally killing each other for thousands of years and it does not seem to me they are ready to stop.

WMD's found in Iraq
no wait
Saddam ousted as dictator
no wait
Saddam executed for his crimes
no wait
Mission Accomplished
no wait
Kill terrorists over there so they don;t log onto travelocity and come over here
no wait
Spread democracy
no wait
End sectarian violence in Iraq

You know what? If you don't like the present indications or reason why we're at war, just wait a couple of weeks and Bush will change it to something you may like better.

some of the above are typical answers from liberals.

When the government of Iraq can defend themselves without our direct aid, against insurgents who are funded by the likes of hezbollah, then we can leave.

I don't understand why democrats and liberals have a hard time understanding the importance of that. They can't see past their greed to get a democrat in office.

We'll know we're winning when you see liberals tripping over each other trying to get in front of a microphone to announce their full support for the mission and denouncing as a slur any notion that they ever held any other position.

I guess when there is a large enough Iraqi force to satisfy the powers that be that they can handle the insurgency??

When the Iraqis have the good sense to just relax, let us take the oil and anything else we want without damn complaining. We already destroyed what little infrastructure existed, so it's not like we want to occupy a dump. Just let us plunder the riches, viking style.

When all the oil wells have dried up. I am serious too, the neo-cons want to stay forever.
