I thought I had won a lot of money only to find out it was a scam. It really made me rethink my attitude. I need to be thankful to God all the time for all that he has blessed me with and not just when I think he has sent some money my way. He's going to take care of me and my family regardless of what's in the bank but probably even more so if I'd stop being so selfish and stop complaining all the time.
I don't know if this makes sense to you, but since it just happened recently to me, I feel it has changed me for the better.

Sorry about your loss. Motherhood is the single best thing I have ever done. I made a decision to be a calm, rational parent and it worked brilliantly. I have never had to raise my voice to my 12 year old daughter, and she is amazing. I have always treated her with respect, and she does the same for me. She knows she can tell me anything, and I will support and encourage her. She is a brown belt in karate, and an honor roll student. I have tried to grow and learn with her. Her open mindedness and willing spirit have helped me to open my mind to many things. Its the best job I have ever had. I made the decision to forgo relationships while she is young, and focus my energies on her. It is the best decision I have ever made.

For myself it was leaving the comfort of my hometown, all of my childhood friends, and my immediate family members to move to a place I'd never even seen before (AND it was over 2,000 miles away from them!). I signed up for a tour of Americorps and I think this opportunity and decision has shaped my future into what it is today. I'm very happy I decided to take a chance because now the benefits are boundless, and I'm so grateful.

My DUI/ Car Accident because it opened up my eyes to my drinking problem. It gave me the wake up call that I needed to turn things around and quit drinking. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because it was the beginning of the biggest and most important change in my life.
