I teach Language Arts at both freshman and senior levels in NJ. This is my 8th year teaching (which is currently being interrupted by maternity leave that ends -eek- tomorrow). I was very unhappy my first year teaching because, being a perfectionist, there was so much that didn't go the way I wanted (no matter how much I planned and prepped); however, I've loved it from my third year on. I take pride in the structure I provide and the high standards to which I hold my students. It is more important to me that I am respected than "liked."

I am currently trying to find a teaching job in Missouri, so I am substitute teaching. I am certified in speech and theatre grades 9-12, and if I passed the PRAXIS two weeks ago, I will be certified in speech/theatre grades 5-12. I'm taking the PRAXIS again in April to be certified in English 9-12, too. My teaching experience is slim, but good. I've enjoyed all of it and look forward to more. I student-taught speech to 10th graders and I have taught outdoor education for a year and a half, but that is not in a school system so it "doesn't count."

High school math......upper level. Oklahoma, therefore I teach for the love of teaching not for the pay. I have been at it for about 25 years, and love what I am doing. Been able to coach some sports during that time and have also enjoyed that.

I teach, English, Math, Science, History, and Reading to grades 1-12, in a one room school house in Colorado.
I have been teaching for over 20 years.
Teaching is a rewarding profession, because teaching is learning. You learn from your students what works and what doesn't. In college they didn't teach you HOW to teach they just taught you WHAT to teach, so it has been the job of the students to teach me how they learn so I can teach them properly. I would not trade jobs with anyone in the world, because I have the best job. :-)

I am a fourth grade teacher. I teach reading and math. I am just out of college so this is my first year teaching. I have had lots of experience through college, being a graduate assistant. I have also helped through out my younger years in my mother's classroom as she was a teacher as well.

Currently, I teach kindergarten in a public school in New Jersey. In my previous 15 years, I have taught every grade from kindergarten to eighth grade language arts - and I hope to teach 50 more years! Teaching makes EVERY other profession possible.... (-;
