My computer speakers make a horrible squeal when I turn them on, what may cause this?

They first make this sound when I was turning them off. I noticed the on/off knob is loose. The squeal is continous.

Buy new speakers...

The connections are dirty or lose, and its squeeling a scratcy kinda squeel right?

Just buy some new speakers... crappy speakers break after a while and start to do that.

Is there another speaker or microphone near them? If so, it could be feedback.
