i want to make my own website but dont know how to go about it any one any suggestions i want people to be able to find it when they go on the comp

I'd recommend Freewebs.com - it's so straightforward & some of the templates are excellent & create brilliant sites.

You can have ordinary web pages, a blog, a guest book, a photo gallery, a web counter & more - plus you can customise some of the templates.
It also gives you the option to put in things so that it'll turn up in a search engine.

Firstly you need a site to host it.
geocities (use your Yahoo login & password)
hosting4nothing.com is also good
You can use several tools such as dreamweaver, just do web search for free html authoring tools.
once you have created your pages upload them to the host site, you need a FTP program, try "Leech FTP"
Of course may host sites, such as yahoo & hotmail provide templates but these are very limited and less individual.

also you can pay to have your website advertised on google/yahoo and you can also submit it for free
as well as this... you can use things like yahoo answers as a n advertising and improvement suggestions by making a question asking what people think of your site and how to improve it...
you could also use website like myspace to advertise your site or upload videos to google/yahoo video but edit it and put your website address on the end of your video
finally you can get html codes to make your site look professional from http://www.dynamicdrive.com and this site has many walkthroughs on how to use the html's for beginners

For first time I would try www.wetpaint.com and www.wordpress.com or Google's Page Creator if you want super simple.
