My blood pressure is fine 110/80. But I have been having alot of swelling in my feet and ankles, even my fingers have swollen up. Last night I coughed really hard and strated seeing spots of light, they looked like little fire flies. Has enyone else had these symptoms?? I read that swelling and seeing spots can be caused by preeclampsia. Should I be worried, even though right now my blood pressure is fine??
BTW, I am almost 30 weeks pregnant

You should call your doctor and explain what's happening. I had preeclampsia with my first son and I had high-normal bp but a lot swelling and strange vision sometimes, spots and lights. When I actually went into labor my bp went really high and I had to have an emergency c-section! Call your doctor today! Good luck and hope all is ok =)

Bring your concerns up to your doctor at your next appointment. Some swelling is normal in pregnancy, its just part of it. While seeing spots is a symptom, people with preeclamspia (or toxemia or PIH) will see spots without any reason. Coughing was what brought yours on. When I had PIH, I saw spots without any reason. Try not to worry too much. Lie down more. Get your rest. That's what they'll tell you to do. If your blood pressure shoots up, that's when they'll worry. Best of luck.

I wanted to add, that while your top number is fine, the lower number is high, but they generally don't worry about that number too much. Just a heads up.

I would see the doctor... not for the swelling but for the spots. That sounds unusual to me. I had edema during my pregnancy. Just delivered Jan 5th. If the swelling gets to bad they put you on bed rest. But not to worry. Put your feet up by lying on the floor and then put your legs on a couch, chair, or other good piece of furnature. Then take a hand towel roll it up so it fits in the curve of your neck. If after 45 min the swelling hasn't reduced in your feet and legs call your doctor they will know how to help you. ALSO make sure you are drinking at least 10 glasses of water a day. Your body is retaining water so the more you drink the more you pass and the better hydrated you are for the baby. Your baby's amniotic fluid gets changed out about every 3 hours so make sure you drink drink drink. I know it sounds wierd but its the truth.

YES, you should be worried.

My blood pressure was 100% normal throughout the whole of my pregnancy up until 32 weeks... then I went to the doctor and he noticed that I had swollen feet, hands, face, checked me and I was starting to dialate. I had been seeing those spots too. My blood pressure was also way up, and shot from completely normal at 32 weeks to 186/116 (at the highest point) at 33 weeks.

My daughter was born the following Saturday at 33 weeks (almost 34) gestation We are both fine now, but it was SCARY!

Call your OB girl! Preecalmpsia is nothing to play with... you could have a placental abruption, whcih could kill you both...

Pre-Eclampsia also includes high blood pressure. Seeing stars can be a sign of low blood pressure, too. If you get up too fast, there is a lack of immediate flow of blood to your brain, which the coughing probably caused for a brief moment. I wouldn't be concerned about this condition unless your BP goes up significantly, and stays up.
You might see stars if you bend over to wrap a towel around your head after a shower and stand upright again, or if you just rise from a lying down or seated position.

Your blood pressure definatley sounds good....swelling in the hands and feet are pretyy common. Generally in preeclampsia you swell EVERYWHERE. Call your doctor if you are worried they will help you out.

Call the doc. 110 is fine but 80 is a little on the high side. And with your other symptoms...yeah, I'd call the doc just to be safe.
