Whenever I travel it's with my family but, even if I were by myself, I don't think you meet that many people traveling, at least not in the process because people are in a hurry, worried sometimes, and thinking about what they need and not forgetting things, like at an airport, train station. Even in the western culture, it's easier to meet people through work, school, community groups (church, volunteering, other orgranizations, etc), than from traveling, at least in my opinion. Even though you can still meet really interesting people in places you travel to, usually they have their own lives and you might still keep in contact but it will be hard once you go back home.

In my case, I don't really have the chance in meeting new people of the opposite sex when I am traveling...most of the times it seams that I manage to be mostly with women or married men (not even intrrested in polite conversation) around me.
I meet people through my friends (parties, going out),internet chat...church(only sometines).

Well I havent ever travelled as a single gal but I know a few people who have and have met their future spouses in doing so.
As for me, I met my OH in the workplace.
I also know a few couples who met through sports clubs/hobbies they have in common.
The most unlikely way to meet anyone is going out to a pub/bar/club on a Sat night IMHO.

No. If you want to meet people there are easier ways. Join a dating agency. Or join local groups, do evening classes or something. People are not going to knock at your door you have to go out and find them. It does seem more sociable on holidays but this is not reality.

You have it backwards. It's very hard to meet someone special or even make lasting friends while traveling.
