whoevers done it has chopped off its tail aswell....i keep trying to catch it but its in so much pain it rolls up into a ball and i can`t pick it up...its eating ok i saw it eating a worm this morning

well, you should hold some food out in your hand and if he comes to it you should take him to the vet.

This is just plain SICK, I agree that you should get a humane live trap and catch him or her. I would not try to lure it into you hand as a injured animal tame or not will bite you if hurt or scared. Good thing is that you are not going to get anything from this rat wether wild or captive bred....even if it does bite you. However it will hurt like heck if it does. So I would go live trap and yes seek a vet immediately also tell them how you got this animal. Also if you know who did this report it. Shaz

get a humane trap and put some food in it. once the poor baby is in there rush it right to the vet.
