I keep getting uniary tract infections, like I keep myself very clean down there always, and I am sexually active. But I always bathe myself afterwards, but I continue to get them. Someone told me that it's because I use soap down there. So, could someone give me suggestions about how to deal with this problem, because I hate going to the doctor. If you dont have a honest, serious answer then don't bother anwsering. Thanks.

Learned these things from granny:

(1) Always go to the bathroom to relieve your bladder immediately after sexual activity. No. Soap is not your enemy.

(2) Drink lots of water and some cranberry juice daily.

(3) Always wipe front to back

(4) Make sure your partner is as diligent about hygiene as you are. Men can cause this problem too.

(5) Make your doctor your friend, meaning don't be afraid to go for check-ups. Doctors are there to help you. He/she can tell you if you are diabetic, for example.

I heard that when you go to the bathroom, (women) shouldn't
wipe from back to front with tissue. It should always be front to back. The rationale is, most urinary tract infections come from the woman herself, when bacteria from her anus gets rubbed onto her urethra. Wipe front to back.

Another things is, right after sex, most doctors recommend that a woman pees. The rush of pee will help any bacteria (that might have been rubbed around during sex) get flushed down the toilet by urine.

Also, whenever you get prescribed antibiotics, ALWAYS FINISH THE ENTIRE BOTTLE as indicated. Never stop taking antibiotics until they are ALL FINISHED.

Stay well hydrated (water 6-8 glasses per day & cranberry juice). Always wipe from the front to the back, urinate after intercourse, avoid constipation & spermacides gel & condoms with gel (this can change the ph in your vagina).
Exercise, keep you weight down.
Eat a fistful of dried cranberries every night before bed. 2)Drink lots of water. 3) Avoid refined sugars and carbohydrates as much as possible. Hope this helps!

washing is not as effective as urinating after intercourse and after gyn visits. Be sure to wipe front to back and avoid g-string (I know everyone hates the pantyline, but I hate urinary tract infections more). The urethra is it v.close to the anus and vagina and a microscopic piece of dirt will cause an infection, urinating will clean it out. Also, make sure your S.O. washes their hands before foreplay.

I have the same problem. I have been haveing them for years and it always comes back. Drink water, no juice, no soda. It seems if I do that it kinda helps, but when I cheat, it comes back. Take crannberry vitamins, strong ones. It might not fix it, but will help to make it better

Good luck

I used to get about 2 a month for years. My doctors told me to take 1,000mg of Vitamin C a day. It makes your urine acidic so bacteria cannot grow in it. I swear but it. I have been 4 years UTI-free.

I'm not trying to be fecicious but most women use soap! Could it be that you wipe east to west instead of west to east? My granddaughter was getting them routinely when she began pottying herself and we didn't know why at first. My daughter took her to the doctor who told her she might keep an eye on that issue. Sure enough she was going east to west and not west to east!

It could be the soap u use or it could be that ur not drinking enough water...try drinking cranberry juice...also if ur using any lubrications that could be the problem 2 or if ur not using any protection, that would cause a uti.

my ob doctor prescribed a feminine wash for those who are more prone to vaginal infections. (pregnant women and sexually active ones are most prone to infection) if you don't want to ask your doctor about recommended brands, just look for a feminine wash for pregnant or sexually active women.

this is going to sound strange but after sex you need to go to the bathroom and urinate...during sex debri and body fluids are pushed inside the eurethra and can cause infection...urinating can clear the debri away and help prevent the infections.
