how can i tell if my tropical fish is pregnant?

ive jus set up a aqurium, ive got 15 fish had them about a week. ive got two red platies and two blue platies, my two blue platies arent showing much colour yet, but one of them has become really fat in the belly, im not sure if its a he or she, the other platie follows it every wer, its still eating and everythink but how do i knw if it is preggers? plz help

The fact that it's really heavy in the belly is a give away that it's pregnant. Also look for it to get darker at the back part of it's belly. Platys breed very easily and if you have had a male and a femle in the tank together for a week, you can bet that the female is pregnant.

If her belly is really fat she's probably pregnant. The other fish follow her waiting for the eggs to come out. If you don't isolate her they'll eat the eggs before you know she's laid them. They make a small, clear cage like thing to put in there to keep her and her eggs safe from predators...
