Because the Great Wall was constructed 2,200 years ago (Even before the Christ was born and the Bible was existed) and it covered 4,500miles. Unlike other famous man-made buildings (ex. Pyramids) sit on the flat ground. The Great Wall were built on various geographic surface (ex. mountains) which adds its difficulty at its time.

The rumor says the Great Wall is the only building on earth that can be seen by naked eye from the Earth orbital which makes it even more famous. Hey don't copy my answers.

There are some stories related to the Great Wall. One of them involved that a wife was so sad after she heard that her husband died during the construction of the Great Wall. She cried for a long time next to the Wall and eventually cause a section of the wall to collapse. Although it's just a lengend but it's no doubt that many had died during the construction. Yahoo! Quick answer:
Because it's enormous.

Long answer:
The Great Wall is the world's longest man-made structure, stretching over 6,352 km (3,948 miles) from Shanhai Pass in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia.

Astronauts can't agree whether it's visible from space or not.

Veteran US astronaut Gene Cernan has stated: "At Earth orbit of 160 km to 320 km high, the Great Wall of China is, indeed, visible to the naked eye."
Ed Lu, Expedition 7 Science Officer aboard the International Space Station, adds that, "it's less visible than a lot of other objects. And you have to know where to look."

Neil Armstrong stated about the view from Apollo 11: "I do not believe that, at least with my eyes, there would be any man-made object that I could see. I have not yet found somebody who has told me they've seen the Wall of China from Earth orbit. ... I've asked various people, particularly Shuttle guys, that have been many orbits around China in the daytime, and the ones I've talked to didn't see it."

o,o Dude, you more than likely failed Language Arts because you can t even spell the word "great" right.

Anyway, the Great Wall of China is so famous because it is the longest man made object on Earth, and you can see it from space. It was built in the Qin Shi Huang dynasty and it is approximately 2,000 years old. Go back and take Language Arts again, Honey.
