I live in central Georgia and me, my boyfriend, and couple of our friends will taking the three hour drive this Saturday to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day. Savannah is well-known in Georgia for it's St. Patty's Day bash but I've never been to one before (I have been to Savannah, just not for St. Patty's). Has anyone else ever been? What should I expect? What should I wear (besides something green, of course)? And, I know you can't get into any clubs there if you're under 21 so since me and one of our friends are 20, will it be a problem? Or is it just a big party on River Street? Anything you can tell me will really help!

LOL, I already knew there would be drunk people, y'all. That's a given. Thanks for the comparison to Mardi Gras. Even though I've never been to that either, I still know what it's all about.

Savannah ROCKS! Make sure you bring some warm clothes as the temperature can dip into the low 60s or mid 50s. Long sleeve tees, fleece vests, and a beanie are ideal to keep you warm if you want to party all night long.
Bring your own booze and drink before you enter. There is a cover charge - I think $10 or so to enter River Street and you get wristbanded which most places will check to keep under-agers from drinking. But you can drink beforehand, in fact you can usually walk up to the gate with a drink and then toss it away when you enter to pay cover.
The cops are tolerant of everything but bottles, cans, blatant intoxication, yarfing, and any sort of loud behavior or violence. You can walk around most of the city with a drink so long as it in a non-see-through plastic cup.
Make sure you get some Chatham Artillery Punch and there is a beer joint either next to or in Huey's that sells the best cheap beer and cheap mixed drinks.
Wear beads if you can get them...the bigger and greener the better. I picked some up from http://www.stpattys.com last year and they were a frickin' riot! So much attention from everyone coming buy yelling, "Nice Balls!"
No clubs for you since you are under age but everywhere sells booze so can likely get some without a problem - thought I do not condone illegal underage drinking.
Next morning go to J. Christophers for breakfast. It is in an old garage near downtown and the buttered toast and skillet special will make you feel alright!

St. Patrick's Day is to Savannah what Mardi Gras is to New Orleans. It is basically a big party on the street. People wear all sorts of things but make sure to wear comfortable shoes. You will have a lot of fun.

I heard that HipHuggers discoteque recently converted to an underage club (no booze). Definitely hit that - it's right on Bay Street one jump up from the craziness on River Street.
Savannah is not that bad during St. Pats - not compared to New Orleans, it's a good time though.
Oh, and say hi to me while you're here, I'll be the really cute guy wearing green ;-)

Just expect a bunch of drunk white people wear something sexy and get a fake id. Or wear something even sexier and not need an ID.

You will see alot of angry crazy drunk people of Irish descent. You will also see alot of angry crazy drunk people not of Irish descent. There will be a handful of normal people of Irish descent and not of Irish descent there. You will mostly see drunken debauchery. Kind of like Mardi Gras.
