My son recently recieved a book on Teen Problems from his grandfather. It's author is Bill O' Reilly...the book is called "The O'Reilly Factor for Kids". I read it, and it is an excellent book. It covers most of the problems teens and kids face today, and it is funny in some places so it's not boring. Good luck.

Sarah Dressen is well known for her teenage drama stories. The movie "How to Deal" was based on a couple of her books. I believe she also wrote a book called "Speak" which is quite popular.

K.L. Going is the author of Saint Iggy and Fat Kid Saves the World which are two more stories you might like.

Both these authors touch on teen problems such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy, death of teens and such as that.

It depends what kind of books you're looking for. There are books where teens deal with suicidal thoughts, mental illnesses, drug use, cutting, eating disorders, abusive relationships, alcohol, etc. But it's hard to generate a generic list...
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson deals with the effects of rape on the victim
Skin by Adrienne Maria Vrettos deals with how a brother copes with his sister's death due to an eating disorder (also very dysfunctional family)
Burned by Ellen Hopkins deals with a teen girl who has grown up in an abusive family who finds a summer of freedom and love (resulting in pregnancy) only to have her life thrown back into turmoil...
Rules of Survival by Nancy Werlin deals with a teen boy and his sisters as they deal with an abusive mother...and his role as protector...
Candy by Kevin Brooks is about a guy who falls in love with a drug addict who is trying to runaway from her pimp.

Back in my day it was Judy Blume. Although dated, her books still apply to problems facing teens today ("Blubber"= about being overweight and terrorized by poular girls, "Are you there God, its me Margaret" = about changes in your body, "Deenie"= about scoliosis)
