I agree with the last two posters, and know for a fact it is correct in the state I live in.
The motorcycle is a motor vehicle and should be covered under it's own insurance and not that of the vehicle it was being towed in.
The catch 22 for me is that in this state you can't get insurance on a vehicle without a title. So my off-road bikes (MSO's, not titled) aren't covered by my tow vehicle's insurance AND no policy is available for the bikes.

There would be some coverage, but most policies have a cap as to the (contents) of a vehicle.
Considering the amount of loss I recommend consulting an independent insurance adjuster to represent you in your claim. It is a well spent 250 bucks.
Insurance companies will short a policy holder any chance they get.

That's a question for your insurance agent.
How would the insurance company know if you had a pristine bike with 100mi on it, or a piece of crap you just picked up at a junk yard for $50 with a bent frame, every piece of electrics fried and a siezed motor?

Most insurance will cover the contents of the vehicle, so if the bike is damaged then yes.

No. Contrary to what the prior poster stated, your auto policy DOES NOT cover damage to or theft of property that is not part of the vehicle. Your motorcycle would need its own policy to be covered.
