i had this problem 2 years ago. i read several articles on the internet and they all basically said to open it up clean the lens with rub in alcohol. it worked for a while then id to ga do it again and again till eventually i just replaced my ps2 for a refurbished one. if i can remember correctly its actually a fault with all older playstation consoles. hope this helped

The problem is probably not with the PS2 lens but with the the discs themselves. That is why some work and some don't. They are probably scratched or scuffed up. I use toothpaste on mine, funny as it sounds, and it cleans those scuffs right up and makes it playable for at least a little while.

i think that u would need to upgrade your firmware since the discs are not compatible with your PSP. its free!
just search on the internet.

Laser might need cleaning, use a cd lens cleaner on it.
