Not living in the North East Of Scotland it is not advisable to do so in the winter not unless you want to freeze your nuts off.

Not a good idea in the summer either not unless you want to be eaten alive by midgies.

I always leave my bedroom window open slightly. Wider in the summer, I like fresh air to circultate the bedroom.

Upstairs yes -they have security catches.
Last time I left the kitchen window open someone nicked my coffee but he got the fright of his life as he met 3 GSDs climbing over the cooker at him !!

yeah but so the window lock catches it, nobody can break in then. it is only open an inch or so, but is great to have fresh air going through the house.
