So long as you have the consent of the parent and a signature to confirm this, it shouldnt be a problem. However, when carrying out any treatments, you must remember to adhere to all regulations in regards to health and safety and the child protection act. It would also probably be better for you if the parent was present in the room at the time of the treatment, though this is something you need to discuss with both the parent and the child. The child may or may not want the parent present? Hope this is of help to you.

The law says its perfectly ok to give a masasge to a minor, with their parents consent, however as a female massage therapist if a male teenager wanted a massage I would feel a bit uncomfortable about it, even with his mum there.
Its entirely up to you though and depends on how well you know them and how comfortable you feel massaging those of the opposite sex.
Personally I would be providing them with the contact details of a female massage therapist who you know to be reputable.

Dont know. Call your school. It's not worth the risk if you dont know, cuz the kid or the parent could sue for some lie (they may see a perfect opportunity to sue and Americans are sue happy). Find out first, have the parent present. Especially if its the member of the opposite sex.

if the mother signs the consent form and remains in the room while ur doing the massage then its ok..although if u feel weird about doing it then ur perfectly within your rights to say no..its your massage licence and practice..u dont have to treat someone if u are in any doubt at all

If you feel uncomfortable already, then don't do it.
If you are male - which your name implies, then I'd say again, don't do it.
Can you recommend a female masseur to the mother instead?

at our clinic, we massage minors all the time, if you are uncomfortable, find a female to do it. that would avoid any "sticky situations"

personally i think you should avoid this, if the child has a medical condition her GP can refer her to something suitable, but if its an area you want to get into check with your local NHS CHild Protection department for the legalities
