They answer only from a certain point in the question? Some people read half the question and then fly off the handle. Being defensive proves one thing. What was hte old saying " The only dumb question is the one not asked".

Friend, many people do answer because they like to have others hear of their much boasting.

I was taught that the quiet answer gets the most notice. I think that is true. But here, in the answer room, people ask many questions, some inconsequential ones, but it would appear most desiring honest answers.

And there are those of us who have, like Auntie Mame, 'lived, lived, lived my dears' and have wisdom to share with others.

You are so correct when you stated that the only dumb question is the one not asked. And the only thing worse than that is the person who has an answer, but refuses to share it.

When people 'fly off the handle' it is my belief that their own lack of understanding is one of the chief causes. What they may not know scares them.

I am passionate where it concerns the needs of other people. If I have even a small light to send their way, just a wee bit of understanding, then I must be active and do it.

Do you know what? If three or four people have a little bit of light to share, soon the whole city will be made much brighter for it.

So ask away, my new found friend. Ask and never be embarrassed. The answer YOU receive may be the answer someone else needs and that might save a life.

It can be any of the reasons below:-

1. A person's response may be based on his/her
interpretation of the question asked.

2. It may be that the way the question is being put across
(asked) that makes it difficult for one to respond accurately

3. Many times people ask questions and they are expecting a
particular response and they shut themselves off from any
other point of view

I tend to read the qeustion, then being quick like I am, a response instantly pops into my head. I generally tend to begin reading the details, thus ensureing I interpreted the ? correctly. If the details get too long, boring, drag on, or there is too much poor grammar/spelling etc., I might still leave my input, yet I would skip out on reading the details....
