how long do you have to work as a part time package handler before you can become full time? i know you have to a part time supervisor first, how long does this prosses usually take?

Depends which UPS you work at, they're all union and done by seniority. I worked in the Chelmsford, MA hub for 5 years, I got full-time after about 4 1/2, it's possible to get it sooner tho. I know a few people who went full time after about 2 1/2 - 3 years, so it still takes a while. You don't need to become a part time supervisor first, if you do that you become non-union and your only chance of getting full time will be as a supervisor. Part time supervisors do make more money then new part time hourlies though, and you can get promoted to be supervisor much faster, often times after only being there a month or so.

to answer your first question:Yes, lots of people work for UPS, how do you think all the packages get delevered every day? there are people driving the trucks, loading, etc.
as far as the other questions, I would have to say that it depends on how good a worker you are, how much turnover(people leaving), and how busy the terminal that you are in
