Both. Egypt falls in the Continent of Africa, thus is an African country (but we're not black). The mother tongue language in Egypt is Arabic and thus it is an Arab country. It is also considered a Middle Eastern country, not to forget the land of Pharaohs ;)

Man is Egypt not in North Africa,would it not be considered an African country ,and the language spoken is Arabic (Egyptian dialect)

good question. Egypt our holy motherland is an African Middle East Mediterranean country. We converted to speak Arabic, but ethnically we are Egyptian "Eastern Hamitics". we are the descendants of Ancient Egyptians we are not Arabs.

added: alot insist on the Arab part, we are an Arabic speaking nation, our ethnicity is NOT Arab, the name Arab republic of Egypt was created by the stupid Arab Nationalists, Allah yesma7hom (Nasser and company) just to promote a certain Ideology they had. Yes part of us are of Arab origin, the ones who came from the Arabian peninsula during the Islamic era but in all we aren't Arab, walahy El 3azeem mesh Arab!!!

I have always heard it referred to as an Arab country, due to its majority people. When most say African country, they are usually talking about Sub-Saharan Africa. Just my own experience talking.
