I once got 12 inches of my hair cut off and my closest friends didn't notice, but people who I only knew a little did notice. With this situation (and other situations involving me and other friends) we have discovered that your friends are so used to you, that they don't really pay that much attention to what you actually look like, they are more concerned with your personality and other such stuff. But people that don't know you as well, know you only by your looks and therefore, they notice those little differences. So it could be that they haven't noticed your haircut because they don't focus solely on your looks.

Personally, I think your friends don't really like it, but why hurt your feelings and say that; however, by not saying anything to you would also hurt your feelings. The best case would be to acknowledge the new 'do' and mention 'it is such a change for you, it will take me a little while to get used to the new you'. There is no reason to say more, it will grow out and then you can decide whether or not if you really liked it and go from there.

When I get my hair cut, I always go for something drastic. I hate having my hair the same. And personally, I don't care what anyone else thinks. If it turns out looking like crap, oh well. It's just hair. If necessary, I'll pull out the clippers and buzz it. It'll grow again.

They see the new hair, they think that you looked better with the old hair. They wont say its looks good, because they dont like it, so they say nothing about it just to be polite.

Maybe it's not the best style for you. So what if no one else likes it, if you like the way you look, that's the important point.
I trust my hairdresser to steer me in the right direction and he has never failed. Find a hairdresser you trust and go with their recommendations.
