I have a 1 year old happy-go-lucky Pomeranian. He tries to chase lizards, and squirrels, in fact he tries to chase everything that moves , such a leaves or a piece of paper blown by the wind. I think he does it just to play with them.

It depends on the dog- your dog sounds like it may accidently kill a ferret while playing with it. Any dog that likes chasing things usually do not do well with small animals. You may be ok with a large adult male ferret that can hold it's own, but truthfully, I wouldn't risk it.
My aunt's golden retreiver does well with ferrets but he does not chase anything.

I had 2 ferrets Romeo and Juliet and 2 mini dachshunds and it was a marvel to watch them all play together Brutus, my dachshund, would carry Juliet, the ferret, around like a puppy... She loved it ...They'd played chase and fetch...
I would say if your dog doesn't chase after cats you'd be alright getting a ferret. Good luck and I hope you do get a ferret. You'll love 'em...

My dog (A corgi) wanted to play with my ferrets, but he was too rough. Also, they annoyed him really bad and they were OBSESSED with eating his dog food and drinking his water. Every time I let them out of their room they would run as fast as they could for the dog dish. It was like they thought about it all day long while I was at work.

It depends on the ferret and the dog's personality. But if they don't, the dog could always have a good meal!

This would strongly depend on the breed of dog you have. Most big/fighting breeds have strong alpha/hunting instincts. Try looking up more info regarding the breed of dog you have.

try putting the ferret in a cage and keep the dog on a leash, just show the dog. let him investigate first, if he growls, barks, ect. they probebly won't get along. but i have a donkey and horse who didn't get along now thier best buds.

I have two bigger dogs, and 1 ferrett mine get along really well, the ferrett loves to tease my dogs, he climbs on them, runs from them,grabs there toys and hides them,it is so much fun to watch. and i do think it depends on the breed of dog, you should check this out. mine are SHEPARD
