Yes. All are traceable. With a prepaid, you have to have a phone number to make and receive calls. The number is always traceable.

Urban legion. The incoming call could be traced to the tower originating it no different than any other phone as it is still an RF radio transmitter no mater on what service, prepaid or not. The actual phones location is then found via triangulation with some very simple equipment. The kind of thing we do on hidden transmitter hunts on the Ham bands. I wrote a paper in collage many years ago, about a non-detectable source of UHF radiation that is still near impossible to locate, but won't go in to that here.

The phone itself is traceable but your details would only be traceable if you gave them when buying it.
Whenever you switch it on, it logs on and the mast number is recorded. As you move around the phone logs on to other masts which are recorded. As an ordinary customer this will not help you but the police can get at that information with a warrant.
The electronic intelligence agencies such as the US NSA or UK GCHQ have far more abilities. For instance an extension of ECHELON allows all calls to be monitored for key words and even for particular voice prints.
So as a customer traceability is not really open to you but for the police and intelligence agencies it definitely is!

When ever you use it, or it just blinks, it is checking for the nearest cell. The cell's keep track of the phones closest to it. SO, YES it is traceable.

cell phones when turned on, emitt signals that are satalite trackable. make your call, and when done, shut off the phone.
As far as tracing the owner and or subscriber, no way. There is no personal information exchange when the air time is bought, and when card number is put into phone
