If you donate blood, and they find something wrong with it, do they contact you right away? My uncle needs blood just thought maybe his family could donate for him.

I donate blood and I have to do a survey about my heath & recent activities (eg. overseas trips) so that they know my blood is, in a way, safe.
If you have something wrong with your blood (diseases or AIDS or whatever), you'd have to indicate it on the health survey form.
If you don't know about your blood being "safe", they do conduct checks on the blood before they supply it to their patients, or at least that's how I understand the system works where I live.

Unfortunately, I don't knowif they contact people should their blood be unsuitable, but I would imagine they should, so as to prevent the person from wasting his time and energy in donating more blood in the future.

You should call your local hospital to find out about their procedures with regards to blood donation.

I hope this helps & I think it's great that you want to help others by donating blood. =)

I know it takes a few days. Never had any problems myself. When I had surgery I donated my own blood beforehand. I had 3 transfusions after the surgery.
