You may want to have a baby, but, does your girlfriend wants a child? You see, just because you want to be a father does not mean that she is the one who wants to be a mother. Maybe she does but not at this time.
Are you financially, emotionally and menatally secure to have a child? Do you have a "support system" if you and your girlfriend have to work and you need someone to watch the baby? Can you two afford daycare, before or after school programs for the child? Hell, can you afford the diapers, medicine, food, strollers, and other micellanious needs for that child? Where do you live? Is that place big enough for a child-let alone, two adults?
There are a lot of questions you have to ask yourself before you start asking your girl that you think she should be a mommy right now. And, what happens if the baby is born with special needs? Are you-or her-prepared for that?
You may love her and all but, really, listen. You two need to finish whatever school that you are in and find a good job or such, get a decent apartment and see if you two are even going to be together long enough to bring a child into the world. Children cannot pick their parents but people can pick the particular person they want to be associated with for the rest of their lives to be the other parent in their kids lives.
So, wait. And if you are that anxious in being a father, I suggest you join a big brothers program in your local area and be a role model for kids already born without a father (or positive male role model) in their life.
Think about that before you start "preparing" for fatherhood.

I don't care what anyone thinks raising a child has got to be 50/50 but most men don't get up in the middle of the night 50% of the time, most men don't change diapers 50% of the time, most men won't feed thier child 50% of the time and whats worse is most women simply except this. I know because I do all of the things and it is not easy but if you dare call yourself a man IT IS IMPERITIVE.So do you still want to have a child, because it is only worth it if you are willing to put in a lot of effort and make a life long commitment to your girl.
