Studying can get difficult with your other time demands. Kids at times wont be "put off" till its more convenient. Often times its a matter of scheduling the work. We have large blocks of time we just waste in any given day. It may not seem it but as humans we tend to drag our feet on simple things. Get yourself a day planner and map out your weeks ahead and see just how much "GAP" time you have. I bet there is more then you think. From there I would make sure you get appropriate amounts of sleet but not too too much. That can kill your focus. Eat right and slow any drinking. No drugs. All can kill your focus.

Well, first don't study at home, go to a library or somewhere quiet or at least into a room in your house where you can lock the door so the kids don't bother you. Get your husband to look after the kids for a few hours. Second, remind yourself why you're studying and how much you really enjoy the subject matter (if you don't, well pretend you do). I'm a student too and sometimes I just have to tell my partner to STFU and leave me alone for a few hours. Of course, he's a student as well and completely understands. Also, giving yourself a schedule to study so much each day with absolutely no excuses helps too!

I have the same problem sometimes. I also work full and am persuing my Bachelor's Degree with one year left. Sometimes it can be so hard to just sit down and do the work! If I have anything else on my mind, it's next to impossible. So, I make sure everything else I need to get done is done, then I sit outside or take a bath, and go to the dinning room table, because I CAN'T concentrate when the TV is on. Drinking Green Tea and eating fruits actually helps a lot, as well as not stressing out. Just take it one step at a time, maybe even just sit and close your eyes, breath deep, relax, and then start.
But I'm always open to other suggestions as well!

I was never a good student in school or in the army because I too had trouble focusing. In college I found this cassette in a book store called "high focus" it is suposed to increase certain brain waves while you study, any way it was really wierd because I was able to remember everything I studied and kept a 4.0 for most of my course work and believe me my whole life I struggled to get a C. Good luck.

Having to care for home & children makes it harder naturally to concentrate on study. Obviously the latter is important to you or you would still be a student. Having established that study is as important, the only effective solution is organization of your time bearing in mind the priority of the day, which can be quite different from one day to another. Only you know what is the most pressing or urgent, knowing how to recognize them helps.

This is to do with your Biorhythms. Everybody has a cycle where some days you can do a load of work & at other times you cannot be bothered. This is generally a 28 day cycle & you do more work as you approach a high.
Go to http://www.bio-chart.com
this is free to check by putting in your date of birth. Check & see & you will be forever in my debt because it will help you know the best time to work on your intelectual studies.
Best wishes & good luck with your studies remember its for your family & you must want to succeed

Set aside a time that you can go into a quiet room and study. Make a rule that no one is to bother you while you are in there. If it is part of your routine it may work.

Focus on why you are studying in the first place. What is your immediate goal? Don't lose that feeling.

Wow. I don't. i'm ADD. Let me know when you find out. I do it w/ medication. I would try lots of to do lists, writing things down and check them off. Keep your desk area clean (mine's messy and it really hurts, I'm trying to do better). Keep at it. Thats good you are going to school.
