Last night I got throw off my Arabian it was my fault and his!! My cell phone went off, (normally he doesn't get scared at that), he prance right into the electric fence, hit my leg and arm against it the shock went right through me to him and he took off bucking!! I naturally yelled "Whoa" but that didn't help!! I landed right on the eletric fence and was shocked once again!! I walked back to the barn and he followed me... I'm so sore I can barely walk!!! Anyone else have this kind of experence!

Thanfully I didn't break anything!!! I sprained my wrist though! This is the third time that he has thrown me off but he is only five so I can't really blame him he's a very hot horse by nature!!

I'm trying to work with him more and trying to bombproof him but it's kind of hard to because of him being so young and inexperienced. I will be fine but it's a real pain in the butt (literally) when this kind of thing happens!! I love to ride and wuld never give it up!!

My worst one was when I went for a trail ride in Germany. I thought it would be like American trail rides- easy going. Well, I was put on a top level eventing horse that was very strong willed and loved to gallop. The whole trail ride we galloped- all of the horses through thick woods and over hills (we jumped half of them). Anyways, I am a dressage rider and not used to riding for 2 hours in 2 point position. We were galloping and my horse decided to try to jump the pony ahead of him. I pulled him to the side, lost my balance, and ended up with nasty arm scars- I tore up my whole right arm in gravel and the main thing I was worried about was getting blood on their stubben saddle. Later that day, right before the end, we went galloping through the woods that they did not trip. I had a branch catch me on the bridge of my nose (thankfully not my eye) and was pulled off backwards- landed on my back and fractured 2 upper ribs. I got back on that evil horse again, but he was a sweetheart for the rest of the ride- probably because I bleeding all over him and he didn't want the blood to splatter on his coat :)

When I fall off of my mare at home (17.2 draft) it is always my fault (loss of balance or not paying attention usually). She feels so guilty though and goes and hangs her head down in the corner- refuses to face me!

No with an electric fence but I once got thrown in a field far from my house. A rabbit shot out of a hedge and spooked my horse and he reared up and bucked catching me totally unawares. I landed on my shoulder on a rock and it hurt like hell. I thought I'd hurt a muscle as I struggled to use the arm and couldn't re-mount. I had to walk back leading the horse with my good arm.
After a few hours my mother made me go to see the doctor as it wasn't improving and it turned out that I had broken the arm bone where it becomes a ball at the top and the break had impacted. I was in plaster from neck to waist for 6 weeks. Didn't put me off though and luckily, though I've had many falls since, I haven't broken anything else.

wel ive been thrown 4 times. once when i got my first horse i wa around 10 an it was my birthday an i was riding my horse at a slow gallop well my boot got caught up in the stirrup an stupidly i leaned over an fixed it when i sat back up my horse freaked an i went flying off in2 the dirt. he turned an ran towards my dad an his friend. i just rolled over an laughed off the pain an watched woodrow head 2 my dad. when i tried 2 put my left arm under me an hoist myself up i noticed that i couldnt move it. i rolled back on my back an screamed an cried. i later went 2 the emergency room an found out that i had broken my arm. we sold him after my arm healed bcz he had goten so barn sour.
then 2-3 yrs ago i first started jumping an when i went over the jump the horse reared an made me lose balance an i feel in2 the dirt next 2 the jump i got back on an rode again.
an last year i was riding a horse named midnight max, i was taking him over a jump when he went left an i went forward...in2 the jump i almost snapped the pole in half!! i just brushed off the dirt an got right back on.
Then less then a year ago i was riding my 29 yr old gelding King i had 2 open a gate to the pasture i was leaving so my other horse could go in an eat grass. well i was riding bareback with only a halter. an i had started 2 get my leg over king when he ran throught the open gate an started bucking me off. i went flying over his head rite on my back a few feet in front of him. i was hurt and very mad. i put onmy saddle an spurs an made him go back an forth through the gate an made sure he knew nvr 2 do that again. an he hasnt yet. an i was very surprised that he could buck bcz of his age.

Well not with an electric fence, but with a wooden fence. My horse was really temperamental and he bolted in the ring. I was riding English to begin with. I lost one stirrup, and then the other. The horse went nuts and started to rear. I was so afraid he was going to buck me off or worse yet, try to jump the fence. So I took him up along the side of the fence, and while he was cantering I jumped off of him. I managed to get off but I got dragged along the fence and that hurt! My ankle was all bruised and somehow I got a friction burn from my jodphurs (don't ask how) but man I was pissed! I got back and that horse and showed him who was in command! Later that day I could barely walk. I was soooo sore! It was an eye opener as to how dangerous riding can be! :)

The first time I went riding I was three years old and my moms boyfriend soon to be dad put me on a little black and white shetland pony. They put a saddle on and then dad had a lead rope which he held on to on his horse. The ride was going great until my saddle came loose and I slid under the ponies belly and fell off soon after. My mom said I just started crying and screaming and they thought that I was hurt. But I was'nt . When my dad and mom asked me what hurt I was crying out " I want my pony back " over and over. They went and got the pony and we continued our ride. And I have been riding ever since that day I fell in love with horses. Now I have two kids and I am teaching them how to ride.

I have an Arabian too and we had an electric wire experience. He wanted to go one way and I wanted him to go another. We have some electric wire around the foals pasture, where we were. He got stupid and backed up right into the wire. He shot foreword so fast I barely had time to get a grip. Then he stopped so quickly I went over his head landing in a puddle of mud.

None as good as that but here goes...
When I way 10 I was "trying out" for horseback riding lessons and when I reached the canter my feet fell out of the stirrups.I slowed the horse down but then he started side-stepping. I went off and landed forhead first. He kept on trotting. Right over me. I know hel walked over me but the people around said he stepped ON me. I guess I'll never know. I had bruises everywhere.

...I'm glad you and your horse are OK. I have an arab, too. Love her to bits but she's kind of crazy. :)

Got tossed off of my horse one day when I was a kid.

We were riding along the little path between the side of the barn and the creek. it was something we had done tons of times.

But this time, Clyde decided that the rustling branches were sufficient cause to panic and he bucked me off, I rolled down the embankment and right into the creek.

I thought my Aunt and Uncle were going to have a stroke when they saw him buck me off!

It wasn't funny then, but in retrospect, I have to admit, it must have looked pretty funny to see me flying through the air and into the drink.

I got tossed into a fence and it knocked me out for a few minutes. The big lunk actually waited until I opened my eyes and started cussing him out to run back to his stall. Normally he just runs when I hit the ground, I don't know why he hung around that time.

I had similar situation, accept it was a 5" thick arena pole that I got smacked into. At least the arena was full of grounded up horse poop, but I also landed in a fresh pile.....

I got thrown a few times. Some at shows, some at the stables and some on the trail. I don't know which ones to choose. But here is one story:

My ex and myself was riding out on the trail. He rode my step dad's 17 hand TB (who was race track and jumping experience) and myself on a 8 year old I was training. Scooter (TB) decided to spook, did a fast spin and begin to take off. My ex was not as experienced rider (abit of the type "I know what I am doing, even though I never did it before" attitude). I tried to grab onto the reins, but my gelding decided he wanted to run too. Scooter was trying to run "T" and I over and "T" begin to run. I was half off the saddle do to that and at full speed before he was going to run into the river bed, where spurs off flowers are, I let go and I slid at least 10 feet,....head first into the ground.

Horses take off the to stables, roughly 2,000 feet away. So, I knew they were fine. Myself of course, was knocked out. My ex, who was able to jump off before Scooter took off at full speed, helped me up once I awoke short time after. Walked back to the stables. Everyone worried as when I first got my mare, roughly 7 years before that, She reared up and went ontop of my left side, causing me serious injuries when I was 11.

I was so embarressed as I just got done telling everyone that I haven't been thrown off in 3 years........and how well her horse was doing..........and how dirty-hurting I was as I had thorns/spurs all over. Major head ache.

Do you have the electric fences that if something is caught, it automatically shuts down? If not, I recommend them. That constant shock as been lead to heart failure and nerve damage as what my vet said.
