yeah it's every girls dream and a hard proffesion to get into but i am really interested in becoming one. i don't wanna do catwalk stuff because i have no intention of shrinking down to a size zero. but i would like to do adverts and magazines. so where do i start? I think i'm ok looking and i've had a few professional picture's done. i'm 5ft 8 and i'm a size 10. does anyone know website where i can send photo's of me. or if there are any modelling competitions going on at the moment.
Any information would be heplful and if your a model yourself (male or female) i would love to hear from you.

Well.... to be honest... it is a hard profession.. Make sure you have really good skin and good teeth/smile. Your face is your most important asset in the modeling business.. so is your body. I am also 5'8 and I am a size 4.. i couldnt make it into modeling because i wasnt skinny enough.. A lot of advertising companies and magazines.. pick the cat walk skinny models.. Unless you go for a plus size model. You should go to model agencies and have them evaluate you. Take some professional pictures, of your face, body, and in a bikini. Never pay an agency to be scouted.. they pay for everything and put you out there. I had a friend who worked at a model agency.. and told me that those place you pay money.. that waste your time and money.

You then select your best shots, and look at the telephone guide and phone some agencies. You can also look at fashion magazines. Sometimes if you look closely you'll see the list of make-up, hair, stylist and the model and her agency. Make a list of which agencies you see the most as they are likely to be more reputable. Contact them after looking for their details in the phone book, ask if they have open days (in the US they call it cattle calls sometimes) and then go. When you go to the open day, you should wash your hair, brush it out, and wear nothing but some mascara, little blush and lip gloss. You wear a nice dress or a nice trouser with a sweater. This will show your body without revealing it, and your own beauty will come through. Sometimes the contrast is so amazing between the photos and the real person, and this can count in your favor. Show them your photos even if you think it's not necessary. What counts is not necessarily looks but how photogenic you are. Enter competitions only through fashion mags like Cosmopolitan and stay away from the Internet. You don't want to know how many scumbags there are.

You can also benefit from going to a good model school. I don't know if they still exist, but look at the Lucy Clayton school, in the UK. Really good schools have contact with model agencies and are sometimes affiliated with them.

But it is possible to be a fashion model without being size 0. A lot of your success depends on how professional you are. Don't become Kate or Naomi, especially in the beginning.

Every agency has "Open Call" days during the week. Just call them, they are happy to help, Ford Modeling, Elite, Casablanca. You don't have to bring photos, just be prepared to wait, there are usually quite a lot of people. If they like you, they'll take a few pics. Don't get involved with anyone that says you have to pay a lot of money up front, these are usually scams. Any agency that wants you will get the pics for you. Good Luck!!!!

i'm being serious about this..ok? Write a letter to Tyra or even send her a movie to her and show her that you would not be wasting her time. I wanted to be a model so bad, then I got pregnant. This is what i would do. Also, you could wear your cutest outfit and put some make-up on and send some serious pics to the magazines that you wanna be in. I wish you the best of luck.

TRY FIRST TO HAVE A EXPERIENCE AND HAVE A CONFIDENCE ON WALKING ON CATWALKS CAUSE SOMETIMES THOSE ARE NEEDED IN THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MODELS...LEARN TO POSE TO CAMERAS

TRY THE WEBSITES OF THE BRANDED DRESSES...
