i guess by trying to re-build any damage you may have already done...i would probably start with some simple cardio exercises, not running, maybe brisk walking or a stationary bike. You need to strengthen those wind pipes and your ticker, and cardio is a great way to do that...Start taking a multivitamin, I take One-a-Day Mens Formula and its seems to be a good one..this could help your body get back to a balance of nutrients...then, just like anyone else would do, exercise and eat healthy...maybe, depending on if you like sports, join a Mens Basketball team at a local YMCA or something...There will most likely be people going through the same thing and looking for a new outlet for stress and relaxation...The YMCA provides a lot of different ways to get fit, classes, sports, and the obvious weight rooms and tread mills, so it would probably be a great choice for getting back on track. Make it a family thing...

You have to start out slow just like the rest of us. Work your way up from 10 to 20 minutes of brisk walking, then light to moderate weight training. Work yourself up to a point to where you can job about 30 minutes every day and you'll be on your way in probably 2 months or so. Just don't overdue it, and cause your body too much strain. You'll know when you are ready for the next step. You can also join a gym for women and get a trainer to give you tips on doing certain exercises correctly without hurting your muscles.

First you get a doctor's approval, then you join a gym and get a couple of sessions with a personal trainer to set up a program for you.
You need to make exercise a habit. In a couple of months you will see a remarkable difference
By the way, I am 63 and go to the gym almost every day. It makes a real difference
