House Music is the most misunderstood under appreciated American music style ever. It originated out of Chicago by the late 70's and early 80's. Its popularity grew out of its ability, at the time to fuse R&B, Latin, Soul, Disco and New Wave. Becoming extremely popular in the New York City Club Scene, By the mid 80's with the death of the Disco scene, it would become come the musical standard by which night clubs from New York to Berlin would play. Popular House Music producers at the time include Jelly Bean Benetiz who wind up being famous for eventually discovering Madonna. By the 90's musical trends force a change in House Music. The the genre beginings to absorb more of an electronic feel. This due to the emergance of Techno coming out of the City Of Detroit. By about the same time Houses popularity in Europe, and major American cities was on a huge upswing. Due to a world wide ecomonic recession it became less expensive to pay for DJ than a whole band to play at a night club. DJs such as Junior Vasquez, Franky Knuckles, and Danny Tenaglia, and acts like C & C Music Factory pretty much lead the charge in its early 90's popularity. By the late 90's til now DJ's command the genre. With DJ's getting gigs from Miami to New York, to Spain, and getting 5 figure salaries to spin just for 1 night. Every year many DJ's come to Miami for it yearly DJ convention call the Winter Music Confrence, which is actuality a Convetion/Showcase, in which many DJ's can spin (perform) for Club owners and others to help them make a name for them selves. Some of the currently poplular DJ's at the time are Deep Dish, Robbie Rivera, Erick Morillo, Tiesto, Pete Tong and Roger Sanchez. The music style itself relies on its constant kick (bass) drum rythm which is always play on the the 4th beat, also call the 4/4 drum beat. This is the reason that which sounds like a boom... boom... boom... boom. The high hats are usally on an 8th note off set from the bass. While when it first started out the tempo of House Music was about 120 BPM (beats per minute) it now about 130. Usally relieing on very repeative melodies, that have either (or a mix of all of them) a Latin, Soul, or Electronic feel. Due to its repeative nature House Music gets confused with Trance all the time. Trance is another style which is diffrent with its dronish tones. It also gets confused with Techno and Electrona as well. Techno is really no longer around, and pretty much a deads music style, and Electrona is just a term used to describe any music that is made with digital musical instuments. As of now House has changed into a few diffrent sub genres, (Deep, Progressive, Tribal, and Electro). Most of it's listeners come out of large cities like New York, Londonl, Miami, ect.. You persaonlly may want to check out some of the DJ's I menetioned, websites. or if you can may be hear some of the mix sets. I DJ as well and I post some of my track on my Yahoo 360 page (nynj822). I hope you enjoy House as much as I, And Millions of fans all over the world do!!!!!!!
