Break up songs just help us sulk. they make nothing better. in fact make you miss your ex even more. the best way to get over break up blues is to hang out with friends as much as possible. don't be alone right now. hang out and the rest take cares of it self. i know you solitude is best but take it from someone who knows it is never good to be alone at a time like this.

I thought so, but then when I would hear the songs later that I put on my 'break up cd' it would get me depressed again. I ruined some good music by associating it with a crappy ex.

In that they are relevant to your mood and feelings at the time and allow you to have an outlet for your frustration/anguish, anger/fear and pain then yes, they can play a small part.

Unchained Melody is the one that always gets me because it talks about love coming long distances and the love of my life was from Ghana.

Of course. I can't listen to "When Love Breaks Down" by Prefab Sprout without thinking about several ex-girlfriends, but it helps. You should try that one - good lyrics.

no they make you as miserable as hell, I don't know why people buy break up song compilation albums - how depressing! also when you've broken up with someone you seem to notice that every song you hear is about being in love!
