i am based in the u.k and have just watched the Oprah show. On it was senetor Obama Barack.
I think i,ve just seen the next president of the USA. Everything he said was very inspiring and gave me alot of hope for the future and i'm English!
He came over as very honest and trustworthy and and it was hard not to like him. What does America think of him?

I like Obama as well but am afraid he will be too liberal to accomplish his policies. What (I believe) most Americans want is policy that actually works - and for it to work it must pass both the Congress and the Senate. Democrats still have republican opposition and their hold on this institutions is minimal at best. Americans want a reasonable solution for Iraq - one that does not abandon the Iraqi government but also one that does not force permanent occupation. Most Americans want a policy for the least amongst us that is neither capitalist nor socialist but humanist. We also want to improve relations with the world without sacrificing our ideals. We want a President that will concentrate on the things we have in common as apposed to the few things we do not. We want a President that will have a firm hand in economic policy but not draconian to countries that are at our mercy. We want peace but not on any terms. We want a president that will continue to fight extremism but perhaps with less emphasis on war and more emphasis on the underlying poverty and desperate conditions that often surrounds terrorism but when it is time to use force we want someone who is hard-handed and will not hesitate to use any and all means to conquer our enemy.

I'm not American, I'm British, I don't care about any 1st Black or Woman President. But, I'd rather Obama over Hillary Clinton. Simply because, he's middleaged at the age of 45, but in the world of politics, he's a youngster. Hillary however is 59 and will be 61 when she's elected President, if she becomes the Democrat candidate.

Well... since we won't be having the conventions to determine the CANDIDATES until June-July 2008 I have made NO choice as of yet !!
Senator Obama is certainly charismatic and a good-speaker... but as of yet, I have not heard a stand or platform.
I'm more or less Republican, and Senator McCain or former Senator Thompson would be my favorites.

To be completely frank, I am afraid to vote for any of the top runners. It seems all democrats and republicans only want the presidency to further their own career goals. No one seems interested in truly modifying our society in a way that will please the majority as it's supposed to be. I don't know what to do right now.
Choosing the lesser of two weasels is still choosing a weasel, eh?

Ilike Obama a lot. I agree he is very inspiring and has a great message. We shall see what happens in the next year and a half. BTW, Robby's girl has been watching too much hate TV on Fox.

Too much baggage to be president. He has the backing of neither party and too many other people are running. His secret hope is to be picked as someone's vice president.
In the end, he'll sink into the cracks.

i know youve aimed this at americans,but id just like to say thank god they wont be voting bush back in i feel sorry for the americans theyve learnt the hard way and realised bush nearly destroyed their country hopefully when they get a new president the rest of the world may start to like and trust america again

I agree. I think he is very honest and intelligent. That is why he will never win. Well, that and the fact that he has one of the most liberal voting records in Congress.

He's an extremem leftist and socialist. First of all, you are from the UK - you have socialized medicine - so right off the bat, you are a liberal. Second of all - you are watching Oprah - the most left leaning show in America (behind 'The View'). I would never vote for Obama and I will NEVER vote democrat/liberal. They are the party that promotes appesement of terrorism and they promote the idea that 'somebody owes you something'. They constantly play the race card and yet they have a former KKK member as a major player in their party. You might want to re-evaluate the programming you watch.
