why do older men keep their long hippy hair?

Why do younger men pierce their faces, punch big holes in the earlobes and get tattooed? Why do younger people dye their hair green, blue, pink, orange and red? It's an individual choice. I grow my hair because for 22 years - I had it short. Now I choose to wear it long.

They identify with what they think of as their style. It may just make them feel like they're still the same rebel they've always been.

It's really not uncommon for either sex. Look at women who keep their high school hair style long after that style is either out of fashion or no longer fits their age group. I think older men with shoulder-length gray hair look ridiculous but if they need that "security blanket", fine.

Older men who are losing their hair on top of their heads will often keep the locks long in back to try and compensate. Personally, I think it looks ridiculous and ranks right up with the dreaded comb-overs. Just shave it all off and accept it.

my hubby has hair down to his waist and a beard to match.
he just says it feels right. He had his hair short once and said when he looked in the mirror he didn't see himself . He is in his mid forties and will probably always keep it long. I think it is a hippy thing

They're in denial. They probably think it makes them look as good as they did when they were younger. The only thing worse are the balding men with comb-overs. When will men learn that bald is beautiful. Well, most of the time.

because we can now , whats wrong with it anyway, it was our stile when we were Young and now it's our way of saying we are free of the norm, and our mom's still don't like it , lol

sadly --- they just don't get it --- nothing looks more -- i guess --- sad than someone living in the past --- and worse still --- stuck in second !! --- ( i am over fifty --- but don't live in the past --- i like to get on with life --- there is so much more !!)
