Me and the girls are flying out to Edinburgh tomorrow morning for the weekend. We are not sure what top do. The only sightseeing we want to do is the castle, nothing more. Mainly would like to go for a nice lunch, some shopping and some bars/clubs to go to in the evenings! any suggestions?

thanks.

For shopping stick to Princes St

You will get a nice lunch in the Grainstore in Victoria Street (just off George the IV Bridge.

You've then got the option of shopping in the Old Town (touristy) or going to Princes Street for the usual High Street stores.

The Grassmarket is a good place for a variety of pubs and restaurants in the evening and there are a few nightclubs close by if you want a really late night.

Have a great weekend.

For shopping - Princes street has all the high street shops and department stores, or behind that (to the North) is George street which is a bit more designer (i.e. expensive!). Or you could go to the Old Town (Royal Mile, Grassmarket etc) which has tourist stuff but also a few unusual shops worth a look.

For food - urban angels is good for lunch or dinner, its near George street. www.urban-angel.co.uk/

For drinks - if you like cocktails and more upmarket bars/clubs then the George Street area is the place to be! Tigerlilies is my fave - they also do food but I've never eaten there. http://www.tigerlilyedinburgh.co.uk/

Touristy pubs - there are a lot on Rose Street, but I'd avoid them if I were you! Also the grassmarket has some nice pubs, and the Cowgate has lots of lively pubs/bars and clubs which tend to be frequented more by students I think.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Bring lots and lots of warm clothes with you, we went for my friends birthday and it was cold…burrrr. But sorry I cant remember the name of any clubs we went to. But if you haven’t got any accommodation sorted I would recommend Budget backpackers in cowgate.
