No sign of my period coming any time soon, but no pregnancy symptoms, either. And my sex drive, which is usually very strong, has practically disappeared. Could I have a hormone imbalance? Any good advice is welcome.

I've recently gone through the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago and my period still has not come. I took a pregnancy test-negative, went to the doctor who did another test which was negative. He suggested that I could have a thyroid problem, so he tested for that as well--that test turned out fine. He also said that women normally skip a period (i was so worried because in the 3 years i've been using the birth control pill that i use, i have had a period every month and it ALWAYS comes the same time every month).

So I just suggest that you go see a doctor, so they can test you to be sure and if it's still negative, get your thyroid functioning checked. My doctor said that since everything turned out normal, that I really should not worry about missing one or even two periods....but if it's more than 2 you should worry and get more testing.

No, this is a typical sign of either your going through a very stressful time cause worrying can make your period disappear. Also you need to go for a check up with your doctor cause my friend had a pregnancy test done which said shes pregnant and she had signs of pregnancy, well after a few weeks she started bleeding, after she was took up at hospital they found out she had a blood clot in her ovaries, so do get yourself checked out.

there are many reasons why you could be late. a change in diet, a change in exercise, a change in birth control, more stress than usual at work or at home, a recent illness. There are many other reasons also. 5days isn't always enough time to get a positive test result either, all women are different and our hormones respond at different times. if you are generally feeling well and healthy try another test in a week and see how that goes. if still you are late, make an appointment with your doctor.

Some women (like myself) don't ovulate like the average woman all 5 times I have been pregnant I took a test that was neg. then a week later it was poss. You have to be pregnant for 14 days before it show up on a test... so you may not be pregnant enough to show up on a test yet try again next week.
