i am just about to buy a pc solely for runescape. Will it work ok on the new pentium 2 pc.

Yes, my son plays it on his computer with a pentium 2 and it works fine. Check your video card to make sure that will work, my son needs a new one. He has a little lag because of the video card.

As the speed of Runescape is determined more by your Internet connection speed, then your PC's power, it should work. Usually your connection is much slower then your PC.

It will but a more powerful one would be better.
The main thing is memory, have about 512mg RAM and you'll be fine in High Detail. About 256mg RAM or lower and you may have to use Low Detail.

It should run smoothly, but probably not all too fast. I mean, it really depends on what internet your working with. If your working with dile-up, you'd better forget it. But if you have anything that would normally go smoothly (Exp. Road Runner), than it should play great. Hope this helps!
