I accidentally put a burning pan on top of a kitchen counter and now have a badly burned area about the size of a small banana.

if it burned it's most likly formica
you can install a flush mount hot pad/cutting board in this location & not replace all the k-top

Honestly, if I were you, I'd have it replaced. You know, a new countertop. That would be much easier instead of taking the time to find some sort of formula to repair it. Besides, how bad is the burn? If it's REALLY bad, the only result after trying to repair it, will only result in chunks of your countertop missing, or too burned up to glue back on.

Burns are some of the most devastating things someone can do to any surface. if what you have truly is a burn you may have to live with it or replace it. Burns permanently change the area affected. especially if it is Formica
