I don't seem to understand how NFL fans blame Davis for the Raiders losing seasons. Sure he makes all the decisions there, but thats cause its his franchise, his life. They keep saying, that he hasn't had success with drafting CB over the last few years, when his D was rank 1st in passing last season. If Al Davis was so bad of an Owner, why is it that he has lead his team to 3 Super bowl Wins and has the only team to play in a SB in 4 Different Decades, 14 AFC Conference Championship Games (NFL Record). His team, keeps adding players to the Hall of Fame. They still are #1 in Merchandise Sold in the NFL. I know his team has fallen Rock Bottom during the last 4 Years, but thats part of the Sport. You don't try to get a Owner out of town for that. I mean, The Steelers hadn't won a SB since back in the 70's. Dallas once had themselves the #1 Pick. Packers won a SB after decades of misery. My point is that every great team has to suffer, but its not the owners fault. Its a win/lose sport.

Because people watch SportsCenter and don't think for themselves... Al Davis is smart I wouldnt trade away Moss unless I got at least a high first round pick either - people are always hating on my raiders

Look at all the young coaches Al Davis started and now are freaking legends - look for this new coach to turn the Raiders around - the Raiders Nation is so strong they could loose 10 years with out a winning season and still have a huge fan base because WE ARE THE CRAZY BLACK HOLE BABY - Raiders fans are real fans because they stick with their team through the bad (unlike a lot of fake fans from teams) because we know they will bounce back

Hey the Pats used to suck I mean they were the laughing stock of the league and look a few good drafts and they are the next big thing

Everyone says Andrew Walters sucks but you cant judge a QB that has a horrible OL - look what Chad Pennington did when the Jets got two rookies to start on their OL he took his team from 3rd to last to the playoffs... if Al Davis is smart he will stay away from Brady Quinn and Russell because drafting either will turn them into a Joey Harrington- with such a sad OL they will suck and loose their confidence

Raiders need to draft JOE THOMAS 6'6 311 runs a 4.8!!! Beef up the OL and bring the running game back (we just signed rhodes and griffith) and then walters will have a good year

Al Davis RUNS the team. The Rooneys DON'T run the Steelers. They hire a GM, well actually it is the Director of Football Operations and the job is slightly different as the coach has more power then they would under a GM. Don't remember who owned the team before Jerry Jones, but he is another owner that prys into the team too much. The Raiders and Cowboys are the type that do good or bad based on their owner. In the case of the Raiders they are doing bad because Al Davis just isn't the genius he once was. I'll admit that Davis has forgotten more about football then most of us will ever know, IF you will admit that he has FORGOTTEN it.

The 70's and 80's are over. its a different Chess game with new rules for Owner's and GM's of yester years.

Tom Landry was booted from Dallas and that was painful.
Look what took place within the next following years after is departure.
The Raiders need a new voice, they need fresh innovative Idea's to spark and energize the Black and Gray.

This is a new generation of players, coaches and fans.
Al Davis needs to step down from pulling all the strings.
He should hire a management team of movers, shakers and innovators to rebuild the Raiders. Get new uniform design to rattle the cage of the whole organisation.

In the same way that players and coaches can "lose a step," Mr. Davis has definately lost his touch. He tries to run his team in the old ways and it just doesn't fly anymore. He is not successful in the way that he used to be. He doesn't pick players as well and he doesn't pick coaches well. When he does get a good coach he micromanages them into submission. He is good for the league but not for the Raiders. As a Chiefs fan, I love it when he gets involved. It's passed his time, he really should hire a young GM and start to consider retiring.

Your right on everything but his choices with the team since they played Tampa in the Superbowl have been awful hiring a coach who's offensive coordinator spent the last 25 years running a bed and breakfast. Drafting some good players yes he has done that but in free agency he has been horrible lately.
