Given the only marginally beneficial and effective thing that Republicans have been able to offer to their voters are tax cuts, I ask you the following question, dear republicans: How come so many people with annual incomes below of the national average still vote republican and brag about their party's tax slashing policy when they know that in the end all their tax rollback can buy them is a new couch where they can sit and watch Nascar? Could it be that Republican party voter base is composed by only the the upper class and the sheerly ignorant lower class?

Milli C has a point. I didnt say its all about taxes. Republican voters obviously have other expectations from their representatives, but as the republican part seems to have lost its moral basis, the only thing BENEFICIAL left to its voters are tax cuts. Thats where my question was going in for

Eh, you republicans tend do generalize everything. Do you really think that Democrats will come into office and provide everyone with welfare at the expense of the country's enterpriseship amd job growth? C'mon

All that concept of self-reliance in which the conservative political ideology lies on seems like a good rethoric for you, but not every Liberal looks to be on welfare- Once Again you conservatives are just generalizing. Just on a side note, during Clinton's administration 8 million people have left welfare and that brought welfare Rolls to their lowest level IN 30 YEARS back then

Do you people think that only Democrates use welfare. Its to bad its not maditory to ask what party someone belonge to when applying for government assistance. I'll bet you'll find plenty of Republicans signing up.

No, you have it backwards. The Democratic party is the one who panders to the lowest common denominator: the lazy, the stupid, the clueless.
Republicans don't pander. Like us or despise us, we say what we mean. We don't take an opinion poll to give our position, like the Liberals.
Here is one example: at the Bush - Kerry debates, the candidates were asked what they would do to reduce unemployment.
Kerry mugged for the cameras, and put on his best sad dog face, and gave the most exasperatingly, cloying response. In a reply that sicked me, one that left no doubt he was just wh@ring for votes, Kerry said unemployment was not the fault of the unemployed. He talked about creating some huge new program to help people. Yeah, another stupid, costly, ineffective program.
Bush very frankly told people that they had to learn skills to make themselves attractive to employers. He reminded the viewers that you get a tax deduction for furthering your education, and that if you don't learn new skills, you will always be at risk of losing your job, and no amount of government assistance is going to change that.
Can you believe the difference?
So, the poor who vote Republican are smart enough not to be fooled by the Liberals who just pander to the stupid and the desperate. They realize that the Democrats are only trying to get their votes, and that the "assistance" they offer is often useless.

I'm a middle class citizen at least I thought I was, but now it seems I have less money than I did 6 years ago, funny, uh?
I also get a lower tax rebate than I did 6 years ago, funny, uh?
I can't seem to get ahead now, though I thought I was doing pretty well 6 yeara ago, funny, uh?
What has changed in the last 6 years? Oh, a Republican in office, f-ing everything up for us middle class Americans.
I wish people would be honest, and ask if they were better off during the Clinton administration or today?

Your presmise is based on an idea that the democrats do more for the poor. The bottom line is the government in all its aspirations has done nothing for the poor on either side of the isle. It takes citizens like you and I to; start non-profits, volunteer, and give money for there to be a real impact. If taxes are lower, we can give more. Long live the idea of lower taxes!!

This is any easy one. Liberal Democrats do want to give the poor benefits, but they don't want them to go beyond that. "Give us a vote, and we will throw you a bone"
Republicans, at least true conservatives, believe in the greatness of each and every American citizen. We want to make it as easy as possible for a poor person to elevate themselves. Dems want to keep them subservient. They want to be the God, master, and mother to all. And in return they will be given rights and riches far above the "little people"

What kind of tax cuts do you expect someone earning $27,000 a year to earn?
"that Republicans have been able to offer to their voters are tax cuts"
That attitude is exactly what is wrong with the Democratic party. Its all about what the government can "give me".
Thank you for showing the true colors of your party.
I may not be a card-carrying Republican, but I sure as heck am not a Democrat because of people like you!

The reason that the poor continue to vote Liberal is because the Liberal's keep reminding them that sombody owes them something. That they shouldn't have to work to get somewhere and that they should be dependent on the gov't to help them out of their problems (ie welfare, food stamps, etc). Liberals are all about letting the poor know that they shouldn't take any personal responsibility in getting off their a$$es and doing anything for themselves. I don't know about you, but I don't owe anybody anything. If someone is poor, then they need to get out there and work their butts off just like everyone else, and don't expect anything to plop in your lap. You will get more rewards out of hard work then out of sitting on your butt and collecting welfare.

For your information, Republicans want America to be strong with jobs and with a strong economy. AND... the different with the Democrats is that they want a welfare state with poor as recipients. Now would you rather have a job or be on welfare. If you want a job and a strong economy then you have to be Republican. Welfare state is for the Democrats. Make your decision.!!

The republicans that are in the lower end of the economic spectrum vote republican because they are angry and the republicans are much more into HANG SOMEONE, the republicans as a group are much more apt to say it is okay to jail and/or execute an innocent person to avoid the possiblity of letting a guilty one go free. There is a deep attraction to the whole 'watch 'em die' or 'execution excitement' attitude for angry 'poor' people.
