C = circumference
r = as in pi = 3.1416 (aaprox)
d = diameter

C = r x d ; C = 3.1416 x 1372 mm
C = 4,310.28 mm or 4.310 m

I have seen all the attempts at this by others - some are quite frightening!! - to say the least!

The basics formula you reqire is:-

Circumference = Pi x Diameter
(Diameter = 2 x radius)

Remember also your units and multiples:-

1000 x 1mm = 1meter

Now using your figures should be able to calculate the answer to your problem.

Most tires are affected by deformation & wear and do not exactly match their specifications.

Find yourself a smooth flat surface, set the tire on it , and mark the location where the tire touches the ground. Mark both the ground and the tire.

Then roll the tire one or more revolutions in a straight line until the mark is in contact with the ground. Mark the new location on the surface and measure the distance from the original mark. Divide by the number of revolutions and you will get your true circumference.

This is worked out using

circumference = 2 X pi X r

or since 2 X r = diameter

circumference = pi X diameter

replace the words by figures and work it out :)

Circumference = πd

= π x 1372mm (type it into Google: "1372 pi")
= 4 310.27mm
= 431.027 cm
= 4.31m

The circumference is therefore (pi)D
which in this case would be 1372 times pi which would be roughly 4310.265 mm.

In other words, 4 metres, 300 and 10 point 265 cm.

Multiply diameter by pi = 1372*3.14159

Circumference = π x diameter

C = 3.142 x 1372 = 4,310.824mm = 431.08cm

the easiest way? ... get a tape measure - twirl it around the tyre twice and divide by 2

The formula to use is C = π.d
C = π x 1372 mm
C = 4310.3 mm
C = 4.31 m (to nearest whole number)
