Wow... I always taught my kids to speak their mind (respectfully though). I have 8 of them from age 33 down to 17 (and 5 of them are girls) and I (jokingly) wish that I had subscribed to the "children should bee seen and not heard" school of thought. I bought my first brand new motorcycle (a Harley... my pride and joy and ego boost)... my oldest was about 9 or 10 at the time, and she looked at the bike , then at me, then at the bike, then sais to me "Daddy, that's a nice Honda." HONDA??? I'm still looking for a couple of my teeth that fell out when my jaw hit the garage concrete

Oh my! That would be really upsetting. Did you have to take it back then? I have had similar things happen when I have attempted to buy clothes for my 12 year old granddaughter. I just get her gift cards now. I REALLY hate it when she claims to like something but then never wears it. I live at their house four days a week so I usually KNOW if she is wearing stuff or not.

Ouch! Welcome to the world of Suiting Her Tastes Now. She is becoming independent, huh? Well that saves you from the work of figuring up the savings and picking up bargains. Now she will know what she wants and all you have to do is sign the check. Wish my daughter was still that young. I would do it all over again and love every minute of it. It's fun. Good luck!

i had the same thing happen with my Goddaughter. she was all into dresses and all that girlie junk and i got her this beautiful dress and she looks at me and says, "i do not like that. it's too girlie and i want to be a tomboy now. " also, it was very expensive. that's ok, 'cause i'm a tomboy, too. so sorry, but appreciate the honesty. happy day:)

I can relate. I bought my little one a Play-Doh set. Right away she tossed the Doh on the ground and filled the plastic cups with sand in her sandbox.

Plans almost never go the way intended, but there's nothing more unpredictable than a 6-year-old.
