I wouldn't suggest living here. a holiday is fine.but now that I need health care I'm moving to New Zealand.
The schools are pathetic, down right embarrassing.
I went to night school myself, and I check on my 10 yr old godson, now.
Very disheartening.
Public services are a joke.
I wish I didn't have to leave, but I cant live on sunshine and fresh air.
Iam leaving with a heavy heart, and hope to return some day.
Sorry for bringing you down, but I felt obligated to warn you.

Like all things in life depends on how much money you've got. Despite what "vera g" tells you Crete is a very descent place. The economy is robust (Crete is the hot house of the med and Europe. You can find descent schools and health care is descent better than the UK. The Cretans are very nice and one very important thing is the climate, it is superb.

Generally speaking, Crete is the biggest island of Greece where you can find everything. In Heraklion and Chania there are big hospitals and in the one in Heraklion belongs to the faculty of Medicine, manned with perfect staff.
There is a University, Primary and Secondary Schools public or private, branches of all Ministries, Banks and Public Services and of course there's regular communication with continental Greece with many itineraries per day either by plane or by boat.
Economy stands well and there's room for developing your own business, no matter what it is.
If you need further or specific information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
